On Monday, October 19, 2020 the Miss Utility MD/DC Damage Prevention Committee awarded Flippo Construction Company, Inc with the 2019-2020 Dig Smart Award for Washington, DC. This was Flippo’s second time receiving the award. The Dig Smart Award is presented annually to underground utility contractors in Washington DC and Maryland, who excel in underground utility damage prevention. The winners were determined by a select panel of industry experts after a review of each nominated company’s damage prevention practices to include damage prevention procedures, employee training programs, and enforcement of damage prevention laws.
“We are honored to have received this award,” said John Morgan, President of Flippo Construction. “It is a testament to all of our employees’ hard work and dedication to safety and the protection of public facilities. I am also extremely proud and thankful for all our employees’ efforts”, he said.
The awards are presented at the annual Greater Chesapeake Damage Prevention Training Conference (GCDPTC), however the 2020 GCDPTC was postponed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The 2019-2020 winners will be recognized at the 2021 GCDPTC in Ocean City, Maryland.
