Forest City @ The Yards Parking Lots

As subcontractor to Forest City, Flippo built three adjacent parking lots at National Stadium.  The project was completed in two and a half months and consisted of importing and placing 8600 CY of fill and 22,600 SY of asphalt paving to create 766 parking spaces with all associated storm piping, concrete hardscaping, lighting, fencing and landscaping.

W.A. Chester @ NW Substation 228

As subcontractor to W.A. Chester, Flippo furnished and installed eight pre-cast and one cast-in-place manholes.  This project included furnishing and installing hand-holes in the sidewalk at each manhole location; furnishing and installing 2” PVC between the manholes and hand-holes; trench excavation for pipe installation; pipe installation; and permanent paving. 

FAM @ I-66 Bridges Bull Run & Sudley Road

As a subcontractor to FAM Construction, Flippo was responsible for the construction and installation of two new bridges with pre-cast bulb tee girders and concrete deck.  The Project included installation of new and replacement of existing storm drain pipeline; construction of curb and gutter and sidewalks; and mass grading.

FAM @ Cedar Lane Water Main Relocation

As a subcontractor to FAM Construction, Flippo was responsible for the relocation and installation of 926 LF of 8” and 16” DIP waterline including jack and bore under Route I-66 with 24’ deep jack & bore pits.

Pepco @ 3400 Benning Road

As general contractor to Pepco, Flippo was responsible for the removal and replacement of existing storm drain pipeline; construction of pipe culverts and box culverts and water quality structures.  Work included demolishing existing pipes and grate inlets; erosion and sediment control and excavation.  Project was designed to remediate soil “hot spots”.

Fairfax County, VA

Flippo has been the general contractor to the Fairfax County, VA Department of Public Works, for numerous projects. A few of these projects are highlighted below.

Norman Cole WWTP

Integrated Sewer Metering Improvements

This project includes the rehabilitation of four sanitary sewer metering vaults. Annual Contract

Waterway Drive S-Line Replacement

ask Order issued under 2040. Project consisted of removing approximately 685 linear fee of 8-inch diameter HDPE liner from the sanitary sewer and rehabilitate the host pipe with cured-in-place pipe liner.

Waynewood II

Task Order issued under 2040. Project consisted of replacing 625 linear feet of existing sanitary sewer force main with ductile iron force main, valve vault, gravity sewer, water main relocation and new driveway to pump station.

Flatlick Ph 1 & 2

Task Order issued under 2040. Project consisted of using cured-in-place pipe liner to rehabilitate 2,525 linear feet of existing 24-inch sewer and 651 linear feet of existing 15-inch sewer and line 11 existing manholes through the Flatlick Branch stream in Chantilly, VA. The project also included a bypass pumping system, approximately 3,000 linear feet of access road, and approximately six tree removals.

Pentagon Storm Drain Repairs

Major wet and dry utility relocations and cast-in-place concrete portal to accommodate air rights over interstate I-395 for the construction of three city blocks and 2.2 million square foot complex of office, retail, residential mixed-use.

As subcontractor to CCI Utility and Construction Services, LLC, Flippo was responsible for the removal and replacement of an existing curb inlet.  Flippo was also responsible for the demolition and disposal of an existing storm drain structure and 64 linear feet of storm drain pipe.

W.A. Chester @ Rt. 1 & Potomac Yards

 

As subcontractor to W.A. Chester, Flippo, on an emergency basis, assisted in correcting an issue with a Dominion Virginia Power 230KV line.  Development in the area over recent years had resulted in the removal of cover in some areas of the oil filled pipeline, which created “hot spots” along the line.  Flippo excavated down to the existing Fluidized Thermal Backfill (FTB), and then placed an additional 12VF of FTB to reach the desired grade needed to efficiently dissipate the heat generated by the line.

Rt. 28 @ Wellington

 

As general contractor to VDOT, Flippo was responsible for constructing a concrete bridge on Wellington Road over Route 28 in Manassas, Virginia.   The Project included water main and sewer pipe installation; duct bank, storm water pipe and drainage structures; pile driving; reinforcing steel installation; structural steel erection; placement of precast concrete structures; erosion control; curb, gutter, and sidewalk paving; clearing and grubbing; concrete retaining walls; diversion structures; grading; and concrete and asphalt paving.

FAM @ Stringfellow Water Main Relocation

As a subcontractor to FAM Construction, Flippo was responsible for the relocation of 24” FCWA water main in a dia-base rock trench in a “No Blasting Zone” and installing butterfly valve tie-ins.

FAM @ Rt. 29 Bridges

As subcontractor to FAM Construction, Flippo was responsible for the full construction of two new bridges, on the east and west bound lanes of I-66 over Route 29.  Estimated completion is 11/21.

Six locations removing and replacing 20” to 60” BFV’s and pipe, pressure reducing and sustaining, valve and vaults, S.C.A.C.A. and electrical work and permanent restoration.

Fifteen locations removing and replacing 20” to 36” butterfly valves, pipe and pressure reducing and sustaining valves, vaults, S.C.A.D.A., and electrical work and permanent restoration.
